It's a social status thing. Men who have sex with attractive women without paying are seen by other men as having a higher status than those who pay for sex.
That doesn't mean that high-status men never pay for sex. However, there's a significant difference between hiring an escort for an hour of private intimacy in the bedroom and taking an escort out for social outings. The later is seen as low value, and will be looked down upon by other men.
Cities like Vancouver are relatively small. Ive been out with friends many times and we have seen men out with women who are known to be escorts, and those guys are viewed as losers, they even will get disrespected by other guys publicly sometimes.
At his level, I don't think he'd care about their judgements. How would they negatively impact his life? Likely don't work together. Likely don't run in the same social circles. If they out him, he has reason to out them. I think the boys club blows this issue out of proportion a bit. For all you know , they could be looking at the girl BEHIND the escort and the client , and they just think theyre being watched and judged. There's a lot of paranoia here. A lot of people just don't care either and arent paying attention, unless of course they're the kind of people that care about status and want to rip apart the status of others
I think some men are mostly posturing. Men do a lot to fit in, more than I ever thought they did. I guess my definition of an alpha male doesn't chase status
